Description

Full view please! :)

This took so long! :O Over 35 hours over the past month. Its a picture of Tribe cats being attacked by an eagle. Sorry about the lame title! The Prey-Hunters are Gray Sky before Dawn (light gray tabby tom) and Brook Where Small Fish Swim (Brown tabby she-cat) and Stormfur (gray tom). The Cave-Guard is Jagged Rock Where Heron Sits (dark gray tom).
Im really happy with how this turned out. I really think Im improving at digital drawings. That background took so long, ecspecially the closest mountain. I love the way the trees turned out.

Well anyways hope you enjoy.
Constructive criticisms very welcome :D

Hello and welcome to "Critique with Firepianosushi", here for Feedback Week #FeedbackFrenzy
Here I will attempt to drop some useful constructive criticism on these worthy works :iconotlplz:

First of all, it's great that you've drawn a scene with lots of movement in it! I never read the Warriors series, but I remember a few years ago that most of my classmates were obsessed with it XD
I think the best part of this picture is the rocky path and mountain that the cats are walking on. It looks really amazing, with all its rocks and texture. The animals also look good; I'm not familiar with animal anatomy, but they look true to real life. One really wonderful thing is that each cat has a slightly different face, which allows viewers to distinguish between them beyond the pattern of their fur. The mountains in the background are also beautiful; I tried drawing mountains once and utterly failed, so I know it's not something that's easy to accomplish. The colors match throughout the drawing; everything is pretty unsaturated, so they all go together. Also, the composition is great; my eye can follow from Stormfur to to the other cats in front of him to the eagle to the bushes on the side of that mountain. The trees also have great detail in their branches and twigs. It must have taken lots of effort to do all that.

Now, there are a few things that could be improved in this picture. First of all, the cats have no shadows. This is especially obvious where Gray Sky Before Dawn looks like he's in front of Jagged Rock Where Heron Sits, but it should be the other way around, since the latter is jumping up at the eagle. Giving all the cats shadows would fix this, because the placement of the shadow helps with perspective. Also, the blurriness of the snowy mountains at the back bothers me. That may have been done to show that they are farther back, but in nature, things won't be that blurry (unless of course, you are myopic XD). Instead of making the mountains blurry, I suggest changing their saturation and value to be a little less saturated and have a higher value, so that it looks lighter and more washed-out. This will give the impression of distance better than blurriness will. Finally, the clouds seem out of place in their style. The rest of the drawing has great detail and outlines, and the clouds are just blurs of white. I think you should draw the clouds in the same style as the rest of the picture, with hard outlines to denote shape.

Overall, this is a very detailed piece with lots to look at. The animals and backgrounds are drawn really well, and the colors are great. There are just those few things that need to be fixed; otherwise, this is a truly wonderful piece. Good job :D
